Privacy Policy

0. Welcome

At Sober, we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Assylbek Issatayev ("we," "us," or "our"), the developer of the Sober iOS app ("App"), handles information when you use it. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

The App is designed with privacy in mind—no login is required, and all data is anonymous. We do not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII), such as your name, email, location, or device identifiers.

  • Anonymous Usage Data: We may collect non-personal, aggregated data about how the App is used (e.g., number of tracking entries or journal posts) to improve functionality. This is done locally on your device or through anonymized analytics if enabled via Apple.
  • User-Generated Content: Posts in the community journal are anonymous and do not include personal details. We do not link them to you.
  • In-App Purchases: Any purchase data is handled solely by Apple and not shared with us.
  • No Sensitive Data: We do not store health, sobriety, or habit-related details beyond what's temporarily used on your device for tracking.

We do not use cookies, trackers, or third-party analytics services.

2. How We Use Information

Any limited, anonymous data we access is used only to:

  • Maintain and improve the App (e.g., fixing bugs based on usage patterns).
  • Ensure the community journal functions smoothly.

We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or profiling.

3. Sharing Information

We do not sell, rent, or share any information with third parties. Since no PII is collected and there are no third-party services integrated, there's nothing to share. User Content in the journal is visible to other anonymous users but remains unlinked to individuals.

In rare cases, we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

4. Data Security

Your data stays on your device. Any anonymous aggregated data is handled with standard security practices. However, no system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents can contact us at aaisataev@gmail.com for assistance.

6. Your Rights

Since we collect minimal anonymous data, formal rights like access or deletion requests are limited. You can clear your local data anytime via App settings or by deleting the App. For aggregated usage insights, contact us—we'll provide what we can.

This Policy complies with Apple's App Store privacy requirements, including minimal data collection for a non-personalized experience.

7. International Users

The App is available worldwide, but data practices are based on U.S. standards. If you are in the EU (GDPR) or California (CCPA), note that minimal data means limited applicability, but you still have general privacy rights.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. Changes will be posted in the App. Continued use after updates means acceptance.

9. Contact Us

If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at aaisataev@gmail.com.

Thank you for using Sober—we're here to support your journey!
